One bottle of this wonderful Corton Charlemagne 2011, from one of the very best white wine makers in Burgundy, Pierre Yves Colin Morey

Tasting note

" Hedonistic mixture of wet stone, lime, white flowers, and apple. A long life ahead of it. So good now it will be hard not to drink all my bottles early. The wine needs time to fully integrate but when it does.... look out. Amazing.."  95points CellarTracker

Domaine Pierre Yves Colin-Morey

Considered as one of the young rising stars of Burgundy, Pierre-Yves Colin began working in the wine industry in 1994 at his family estate, Domaine Marc-Colin. Seeking greater opportunity for an expression of individual style, Colin and his wife Caroline Morey, daughter of celebrated Burgundy producer Jean-Marc Morey, started their own négociant business, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey, in 2001. Then in 2006, Colin, taking his 6 hectare (14.8 acres) share of the family plots, turned his full-time attention to his own label. Today Colin-Morey produces stunning wines that are a clear expression of terroir from a mix of his own and sourced (approximately 30%) grapes.

Despite limited production, the Colin-Morey wines have rapidly earned a reputation as a study in mineral Chardonnay, in large part thanks to Colin’s unique style. With a deep abiding respect for the soils and the terroirs of Burgundy, Colin begins his work in the vines with lutte raisonne, or the limited use of chemicals in farming, and a host of sustainable vineyard practices. In the cellars, which are not heated as not to promote malolactic fermentation, Colin uses natural yeasts to begin the fermentation process. The wines are then aged on the lees without battonage, or stirring, in larger demi-muid barrels for an extended period of time, allowing the wines to develop subtle oak flavors. Finally the finished wines are bottled with wide corks, untreated by peroxide, and sealed with wax, thus limiting the risk of premature oxidation.
