Priorat wine

Priorat is located at the south-west of Catalonia. The wine region is a Catalan Denominació d’Origen Qualificada (DOQ) which covers 11 municipalities. This region is characterized by llicorella, its unique terroir of black slate and quartz soil. In the 1990s, powerful red Priorat wines came to international attention.

In the Priorat-category Benjamin’s Wine Store offers you two special wines. Firstly the Rottlan Torra - "Tirant" 2001, which is made from 30% Grenache, 25% Carrignan, 25% young vine Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah and 10% Merlot. The wine is made of a spectacular bouquet of blueberries, blackberries and the region’s classic crushed stone minerality. These ingredients give the wine an inky/purple colour. The Rottlan Torra - "Tirant" 2004 seems, just like the 2001, to have overtaken the Amadis (a wine from hundred-year-old vines), as the flagship wine of Priorat. The fruit which is used comes from low-yielding vines in a unique microclimate near the village of Torroja del Priorat. These wines are absolutely a recommendation for wine lovers!
