Rhône wine

The Rhône Valley, which is famous as a leading viticulture, is located besides the Rhône river. This 812 km-long river is located in Switzerland and France. The Rhône Valley is the oldest wine region in France and maily offers us red wines.

In the Rhône-category we offer you the Château Neuf du Pape 1961 which is a full-bodied, spicy red wine. The name Chateauneuf-du-pape means ‘new castle of the Pope’ and refers to the fact that the town – located just north of Avignon – was chosen as the new home for the Pope’s court in the early 14th century. Clement V, the pope in question, also gave his name to the ancient and equally prestigious Château Pape Clement in Bordeaux’s Graves district. The other Rhône-wine we offer you is the Crozes Hermitage – Les Hautes Blanches. In 2011 almost 70,000 hl of wine were produced and sold under the Crozes-Hermitage title – which is more than the other seven northern Rhone appellations combined.
